This is why I largely avoid working with the militant ones, if I can. About 20% really drink the AANA cool aid and think they could happily replace physician care in a heartbeat, with the privisio that state laws change to allow parity.

We are giving our specialty up (interventional pain) just like we did with anesthesia like IDIOTS

Just people in nursing profession. PA know what their role is

PAs are lobbying to change their title to Physician Associate.

There is a little bit of a "be careful ask for" component to this however

I do not have the link handy but there was a recent extensive Medscape article about burnout and stress with nurse practitioners, especially those working more independently

A lot of hospital systems are using them interchangeably with physicians and the workload is overwhelming some of them in terms of complexity, volume, etc.

Either residency, fellowship, and Board certification means something or they do not

I had an older anesthesiologist tell me PM&R stole pain from them. Now pain's creeping into surgery with no pushback other than a society statement. Has there ever been an example where creep was stopped?

Yes, I am aware of at least one. In New Jersey, decades ago, physicians prevailed in getting a state Supreme Court ruling that anesthesiology is the practice of medicine thus preventing CRNAs from practicing independently. About NJSSA - New Jersey State Society of Anesthesiologists

You sound like one of my old anesthesia attendings who now talks about the good ole days. I would not underestimate this it’s completely different situation from PMR
