Hello -- does anyone know anything about the Harbor Hospital Transitional Year in Baltimore? Is it cush/difficult, in a bad area of town, a nice hospital, a good learning experience, etc? Any info you have would be great!

I did my peds outpt rotation there as a third year. The head of the NICU was a great physician who loved to teach students (part of my outpt rotation was to spend each morning rounding in the NICU) as were the clinic docs I worked with. The hospital physical plant is okay. There are parts that have been remodeled and are very nice. The staff all seemed really nice there. The NICU nurses were very knowledgeable. The outpt clinic nurse ran the office very efficiently and the office staff were very helpful and friendly. The neighborhood is very poor with a lot of drug problems, so you see a lot of Medicaid patients, but it was a good mix of working-poor and welfare-poor. I live down by the airport in a very quiet suburban neighborhood and had no problems with my daily commute (10 mins tops).

I know this isn't a lot of info but I hope this helps in some small way.

This does help, tec! Thanks for the response.
If anyone knows any additional info about the TY program, that'd be great.
