If I buy the Harcourt PCAT tests, can I work on 1 section, log out and come back to that section and then work on section 2 or something like that?

YES

are the harcourt practice tests useful? how would you recommend using them to best prepare for the pcat? what other resources are good pcat practice tests?

I thought they were useful for giving me an idea of how difficult the PCAT would be. Each form of the test varies in difficulty but I felt the practice test was the equivilant of the form of the test I took in June.

I also did the practice tests in the Kaplan prep book which were much harder than the actual PCAT. They helped me work on getting things done within a time limit since Kaplan had problems that needed far more work than the PCAT questions did.

Does that mean if I were to buy the test, I can take as long as I need to finish? For example, if I know I have to stop in the middle to go pick up my husband from work or run an errand....can I just "pause" and come back? The only reason I haven't taken it yet is because I thought I had to find a time where I know I will be able to stay put for like 4 hours.

You can come back to it, as long as you don't click to grade the test. Once the test is graded you have to pay the fee again. However, if you complete (for example) two sections, you can leave it and come back later to complete the other sections. Once you are satisfied with going through all the sections and reviewed your answers, then you can submit to grade the test. Once graded (i think the button to get it graded says "score my test" if i remember correctly on the page that says "final review") then you can't come back to the test.

Hopefully that made sense...
