The minute hand on a clock is twice as long as the hour hand. In a given amount of time, how many times greater is the distance travel by the end of the minute hand traveled by the tip of the hour hand?

Answer: 24

A toddlers toy log consists of a long cylindrical piece of wood. It is painted four different colors which are stripes lying perpendicular to the circular base. Each area of color covers 1/4 of the lateral surface. If red is touching the floor while the log is on its side, which of the following rotations must results in a different color touching the floor?

a. 361 degrees
b. 451 degrees
c. 275 degrees
d. 1008 degrees
e. 359 degrees

Answer 451 degrees

Thanks in advance!

1 hr traveled by the minute hand: 2Pi*R
1 hr traveled by the hour hand: 2Pi*R/2/12
Take ratio of hour/min = 2*12 = 24

In degrees:
0-90 = red
90.x-360 = other
360.x-450 = red
and so on..

Damn you. Its too early to do math.
