#31 Bio in Destroyer says that the Hardy-Weinberg assumptions include

  • No isolation
  • No net migration
  • No natural selection
  • No mutation

But Cliff's AP Bio say's that one of the assumptions is that the "Population must be isolated from other populations." So must the population be isolated or not?

DAT Destroyer: What this is saying is that in a population that has a certain gene pool, organisms WITHIN this population cannot be separate from other organisms WITHIN this population

Cliff's AP Bio: What this is saying is that a population that has a certain gene pool is different from ANOTHER population (of the same organisms) with a DIFFERENT gene pool. These two DIFFERENT populations with DIFFERENT gene pools must be isolated from each other in order to maintain their own specific gene pools.

I think that is what the difference is. Make sense?
