according to predents, there were 2 ppl who got a call from harvard.
one person said got a call at 9:30.
Ouch!! That's a good question.
Sajjy - Do you know?

i'm the 9:30 phone call. They said they only accept 12-16 in the first round and the rest stays open for rolling I guess.
i suppose they're done calling for today, though? so any pre-dec 1 interviewees who haven't heard are waitlisted or rejected?
If you have not heard from them and have not been rejected yet then you are on the waiting list.

sugar is right, they select ~15 applicants on Dec 1st and rest of them are selected once they are done with the rest of the interviews.

do they contact you and let you know that you are on the waitlist if not accepted on 1st with pre-dec interview?

I am not really sure how it works past Dec 1st. I think you have a chance until you are not rejected (not sure though).

So when is this Second Round then?
Like.. right before 2010 fall semester starts?

hope that is not the case...
for post-dec interviews, i know that they let you know your decision fairly quick according to predents...
from last year's i found one person who got accpeted in feburary with pre-dec interview.
I was called by Anne Berg on dec 1st at 9 am. I will encourage everyone not to give up and to be patient; your call will be next.

Don't worry too much. Even if you interviewed pre-December you still have a good chance of getting in. They like to wait until they get most of their apps before making decisions. It is not like other schools that pick like 80% of their students before the new year. Im a third year at HSDM so I know first hand.
For those wait listed @ HSDM: Don't give up hope of getting in! They can call at any time between now and right before school starts in Fall 2010. Last year I interviewed in October, got wait listed Dec. 1st, was all set to attend a different DS in the fall, and gave up all hope of hearing from harvard ever again. Then I got a call from Anne in the middle of JUNE and was asked to attend. Needless to say, I took the opportunity and am currently a first year student and loving it. GL to all of you! 🙂

hm, i'm waitlisted as well.
i don't know how many are on the waitlist, but my guess is that if they're being conservative, they will place at least 25 people on it, to ensure that they'll still have enough people to fill the spots, and have a couple on reserve in the case of last-minute drops. but like i said, i'm only guessing this, and i would welcome any input from someone with more knowledge!
good luck to everyone!

does anyone have statistics for previous years as to how many of us will be taken off the wait-list, and when the list moves?
i was reading thru past year's threads on harvard waitlist and i found that last year harvard offered acceptances in low 40's and 3 or 4 people were taken off from the waitlist.
but in 2007 i heard harvard gave out 53 acceptances where about 15 ppl were accepted from waitlist.
I think the waitlist may move quite slowly (compared to other schools) because there is no deposit required to hold your spot once you're accepted.
From what I understood from the interview, the waitlist is not quite the same as the waitlist at some other schools. They put quite a few people that they're not sure about on the waitlist and keep comparing them to the new people they interview. They mentioned that they offer acceptance to quite a few people from the waitlist as they interview more people and get a better feel of their applicant pool. This is not the same as other schools where they just go to the waitlist after June or something when some one who put in a deposit decides to go somewhere else. I mean I'm sure that is what the waitlist is used for after the class is full, but it is quite possible that you're taken off the waitlist in like Jan and offered acceptance.

Hey shinpe, i member talking to you few times.
Have you heard from harvard yet??
Talking to me on here, at the interview or at UCSD? I got an email from Harvard on Dec. 1st saying that the committee hasn't met to go over my application yet, and that they will do so and let me know in about 2 weeks. So I guess that doesn't mean rejection/waitlist/acceptance in anyway. just keeping my fingers crossed for now.
