The MEMP(PhD) program at MIT (HST) has the option of transferring 6 students into the 2nd yr of MD programs at harvard and tufts (3 harvard HST + 3 Tufts) if students apply the year before they graduate. They also encourage students to apply to first year MD programs outside of the two mentioned in order to maximise their chances to get into an MD program.
MEMP students can take most of the preclinical HST courses with MD students before they graduate with their PhD ( kind of like joining an SMP program).
How would you chance this person for 1st year MD programs with a 33-35 MCAT and with the following stats:
Under grad GPA - Major EE --> 3.75
Grad GPA(MS)- Major EE--> 3.97
Phd(in progress)--> 4.0 (only TQE courses complete till date.No HST preclinical courses yet)
Cumulative sGPA --->> 3.99 (with only the basic pre reqs). I know that HST courses would count as bio, but excluding them for now.
EC: six-week course where you learn to do a complete medical history and physical exam, followed by a six-week clerkship in medicine + lots of research experiences with publications+ no volunteering or shadowing+ some leadership activities worth mentioning+ winner of a federal fellowship for grad school etc.
