I have a question concerning the course requirement for Harvard. Their website states that you need an entire year of calculus to enter the program. I have taken one semester of elementary calc w/ trig and one semester of calculus. Will I need another semester or are the classes I have taken sufficient? Thanks for any input.

whats elementary calc w trig? is that "college" precalc? u need to take through calc II for harvard, which is by far one of the most irrevelent classes ever not to mention that its nearly impossible to learn on your own becuase of the language calc books chooses to teach the material through, no way should a definition include 6 different undefinied variables and symbols, its a class u actually have to go to and cant just learn from the book

americanpie is right. elementary calc with trig will be considered as "pre-calc." Two semesters of calculus is considered Calculus I and Calculus II.

I suspect that both of you are right, but is there anyone here who interviewed/was accepted at Harvard who knows for sure?

For the entering class of 2007, Harvard students will be required to demonstrate proficiency in social situations and an ability to tie their shoe laces...

Practice Practice Practice!

If you want to know FOR SURE, call the school.

that is not true. I called Harvard dental, and as long as your transcript shows credit for intro to calc class as a result of AP test, and u take 2 more calc classes in college, which is what i have done, she said it is okay. Make sure you know what you are taking about before u give some1 else an advice.
BTW...i am on quarter system.

whoa dude. before u get pissed off at me like u just did. i do know what im talking about becasue i got a call from harvard wanting to interview but i said i cant stay another quarter to take calc III. so diff ppl have diff information, u'll learn that after u apply. and if u think what u have is fine. so be it. and good luck.

sorry i got a little out of hand, but this is so stupid. Why don't u tell them that other ppl gave u the info. that AP test passing is OK too. I am just disgusted by the whole system. I want to appologize once again.

you know, i was debating whether or not to attend and I've made up my mind...Kevo's coming to PENN! I just need to get a lil more gangsta for Philli. It should be a blast and maybe i'll even study a bit, who knows. But from what I can see, we should have a cool class 👍
