Just wanted to see if anybody has received an interview invite which was directly due to them submitting an academic update and schools taking notice... let me know how you guys feel about academic updates actually benefiting those who decide to submit

YES, the academic update saved me.

My stats, 3.3GPA with a nice upward trend and 23AA/26PAT. Applied in June to 19 schools. ZERO interviews until December after I completed the academic update. Soon after, 5 interviews came in succession. Schools confirmed that the academic update helped me.

My problem? I still needed to complete some prereqs but didn't put anything down for planned coursework, even though I was still taking classes. BIG MISTAKE. I live in Ann Arbor, and this is the reason why Michigan insta-rejected me. I live down the block and they flat out rejected me. I was so demoralized when I saw that..

Anyways, yup... academic update saved me this cycle

I'm in michigan as well... so basically what ur trying to say is that you should make sure to include all pre-reqs in planned coursework even if you dont plan to take it until winter semester????

Exactly and any other classes that may improve your application like other upper level bio courses that aren't prereqs. Planning to take, let's say anatomy, improves your application even if you don't have a grade yet. The caveat is that if they accept you, and a certain science course is listed in your planned coursework, you'll probably need approval before you can switch your schedule around. With non-science courses, there's a lot more flexibility. The basic idea is that they accepted you with the understanding that you will successfully complete a planned course. If you drop it, that changes you as an applicant, and that is grounds for revoking an acceptance.

Ok thanks for the advice, i'll make sure i check the prereqs and plan accordingly... btw can you let me know which 5 schools sent you interviews? also did any of the schools at that time tell u explicitly that the interview was for a spot on the wait list?

I got interviews at BU, Tufts, UIC, UDM, and MWU-IL.

BU, and Tufts accepted me. UIC silent rejection, and I withdrew from MWU-IL without interviewing.

I interviewed with UDM for a waitlist position, and that's my current status.
