I felt like a used condom after that.
I think I have had the most degrading experience of all. And probably the reason why I am so bitter about dental school admissions.
Last year when I applied, Case Western Reserve granted me an interview in late February. This was when the weather is Cleveland was extremely bad, and very very cold. I had to drive 3 hours to the airport here in Orlando, FL. The only flights I could get at the time had to go through atlanta, so I ended up having to buy 4 plane tickets just to get to Cleveland. The only place I could get a hotel reservation at was the "Glidden House". Airfare and lodging ended up costing me around 800$ because my flight was delayed due to severe weather (I had to stay a second night).
So when I get there, they interview me. It went well aside for the waiting. I waited for 3 hours after my interview before anything happened. A second guy came to interview me, and spent about 45 minutes talking with me. At the end of our conversation, he says "well, I'm sorry it looks like you are an excellent candidate and it appears you really want to be a dentist - but we don't have any more seats left." WTF. WTF. My blood boiled and I had to prevent myself from beating this man down. I went through hell and back to get there, and they RUN OUT OF SEATS. Why did they put me through the hassle of traveling and spending copious amounts of energy/time/and money to tell me that? I felt like a used condom after that. I walked back to the Glidden house in the snow I will never forget the way I felt.
I ended up missing a Biochemistry exam and nearly failed the class if the professor had not been a nice guy.
Bunch of dinguses. 😡
!!!!!! That story almost brought me to tears! I can only imagine how you felt. Are you reapplying this year? I wish you all the luck in the world if so!

Jacky Treehorn, I am sorry that it happened to you. That is ridiculous how they behaved. I would have sworn a lot and threw something at the guy. I can only imagine walking in to the cold snow and being so frustrated and upset and sad at that point. I hope no one ever feels like that again. I wish you the best and always remember that there will be lots of people and situations that will test your strength to cope in such times, just think of it like an a test that we are going through right now and who ever keeps their faith strong and belief and hope alive will get through.
ohhh your story is making me so MAD! Actually I am one of those people that always have to struggle for just about everything and its not easy and today I was thinking that wow everything is so stressful and I am losing my mind worrying about the outcome of my application. So then I prayed and hoped for the best... So good luck!
Hrm.. interesting 🙂 Can anyone confirm this? If a person interviews in September, for instance, can that person receive a rejection letter/email after the interview but before December 1st?
December 1st is not the definite deadline for acceptances. December 1st is also a deadline for many rejection letters.
