Has ANYONE gotten secondaries yet?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.

Just wondering. I got my AMCAS processed a little while ago, but haven't gotten anything from any of the schools.

Why rush it? They'll start rolling in the next 2 weeks (after July 4 holiday), and soon you'll have secondaries coming out of your ears, Harvard's gets released in september. Go enjoy the nice weather this weekend, watch some fireworks and forget that you're applying to med school for a few days!

Some people like getting a head start because they want to be a little less stress free when they start piling up on each other during the wave of secondaries that start in July.

For this reason they've been reading the secondary prompt thread and starting essays for the ones which have former secondary prompts on there.

Other schools have their secondaries linked, so you can start them now anyways.

A friend of mine started receiving secondaries this week- She finished AMCAS June 1st, got secondaries from UCSD, Stanford and U of Michigan I believe. So yea, these things have started rolling out.

A friend of mine received some also from UMich and Georgetown. Submitted AMCAS June 1st, etc.

If you are already verified and don't have anything by the end of the month, then worry. In the meantime, prewrite.

Secondaries to Tufts, USUHS, Georgetown, Dartmouth, and Rosalind Franklin. Probably won't get more until Wednesday, after the 4th.

Dartmouth has sent out a few, a few got them before they were even verified (including me)

I was verified over a week ago, but have been slow to add schools. No secondaries, yet.

+1
This means they obviously dont screen right?
Almost no one screens anymore- they make too much money off of secondaries. I think Indiana is the only school on my list that has a real screen. Some other schools "screen," but it's only for a GPA below like 3.0.
Anyone know any other schools (besides California's) that screen?

Vandy, I think the majority of applicants get no app but I could be wrong. Their initial screen was 3.8/37 last year.

Why wait?

I was in the middle of relocating, had little to no access to internet, and was doing a really intense full clean of our house so we could rent it out. It took about three weeks of traveling back and forth, so I made sure to get my primary sent in for verification before the move. I also need to make sure I have fulfilled each school's requirements - I don't want to apply if I can't matriculate there. I should have all of them picked by the end of today. And, realistically, most schools won't really be looking at apps until after today, anyway. I have been trying to prewrite for some applications so I have everything ready to go with secondaries come in. Summer is getting insane since I have a new job, live in a new house that needs renovations, have a new research project, and have a writing intensive class.

Don't sweat it.. Most of mine didn't come until 4+ weeks after AMCAS verification was complete.

I'm hoping for this as I'll have two weeks off to write between summer and fall. Still writing as much as I can now!

Are you confusing Labor Day with Independence Day ? I hear that they don't really look at apps until Labor Day.

I've heard that as well, which made me pretty sure they weren't going to look at apps before Independence Day, either. I even called the UCSF office yesterday and no one was there. Many people are out of town this week.

I've gotten secondaries from:
  1. UCSD (6/30)
  2. UMiami (6/30)
  3. Rosalind Franklin (6/30)
  4. Georgetown (7/1)
  5. Dartmouth (7/3)
  6. Cornell (7/3)
wait, you got a secondary from UCSD or just an email saying they received your app?
