Has anyone heard from the University of Michigan post dec. 3rd?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I am wondering the same thing. I called last week and they said that it will be between now and early February.

I really want to know this too since I have an interview coming up there and I hope it's not just for an alternate spot

Did they give you any indication as to how many spots are available?

No, they just said they will be sending out another wave of acceptances from now until February and they don't know specifically when. 😕

I'm pretty sure they haven't even told people that interviewed post-dec if they are an alternate or not, so I wouldn't worry! I think all they have done is acceptances so far.

Either Michigan is accepting people who don't post on SDN or they are not doing the second wave until after all the spring interviews. Normally by this time they would have accepted another 5-10 OOS students.😕

I just called the admissions office and they told me to keep checking the Wolverine Access account for updated information regarding their decision. I asked if I will receive an email or phone call when they make their decision and they said the decision will be posted on the Wolverine Access, and they will not call or email you. They also said they will be making decisions within the first couple weeks of February. Hope this helps!

Thanks, this does help. I guess they did change things up. They used to call in mid-January. They may do this because after Feb. 1st schools are only required to give students 15 days to make a decision.

Okay I have another update... It is directly from Michelle DiMondo and makes things a lot more clear. This is the email she sent me:

"The Admissions Committee is meeting soon to determine if additional offers will be made. At that time, the wait-list will also be created. If you are selected to be admitted, we will call you. If you are selected for the wait-list, we will email you. I would estimate by the second week of February, you will know your decision."

Does that mean they did not have a wait-list before? Was it straight up acceptance or rejection on Dec. 3rd? If so, Sparky, you must have been in the 1/8 interview group since I was under the impression that there were only two interview dates (1/8, 1/22) since Dec. 3rd and that no wait-list had been created yet, no?

Also, if they did, in fact, call mid-january last year to offer spots for the first interview group in January, that probably means the adcoms will have preference for the 1/8 group of interviewees over the 1/22 group of interviewees when they meet in February for our cycle.

All they did on Dec. 3rd was acceptances. No wait-list, nor rejections.

I interviewed in November. I do not know who is at an advantage at this point as far as pre or post december.
