I know a few of us was put on "hold for a possible interview" at ucsd. It's been about a month now for me, and I haven't heard a word from them yet. Just wondering, has anyone gotten off the hold list? If so, how long did it take? Thanks.

I've only been on hold since Oct. 16, but I haven't heard anything. I've been told that the hold status is really a rejection in disguise at UCSD, though, so I wouldn't count on getting an interview.

so then that means being on hold for a secondary would be an ultra rejection....

ha ha my rejection is worse than yours!!

i know that was lame. now please take 5 paces behind me and pull.

I'm on hold for interview too. Major bummer.

I heard from a friend that goes to UCSD that the "on hold for interview" status is not a rejection. They have been overwhelmed with many more applications than last year and need time to process them and this is their way of buying time.

from what i hear from ucsd med students, very rarely do students on the hold to be interviewed status ever receive interviews, because there are so many qualified applicants that the admissions committee wishes to interview. I am also on hold and have given up hope. 🙁

yeah, I'm in the same ole hold boat, too. definitely sucks cause I don't wanna give up all hope... but most likely it's not gonna amount to an interview. I wish they'd just reject me instead! (saves me the trouble of wondering)

Have any of you thought of writing a letter to appeal the interview hold? I called up their adcom and they said they accept such letters.

As in a LOI? Actually, this never crossed my mind. But I suppose if your heart is set on UCSD, then it can't hurt!

I haven't gotten around to actually writing the appeal/plea letter
mostly because I need some advice on what one could write in a letter like that without coming off desperate or trying to sell yourself too much or kiss up to the school, etc etc...
