Hello!

I know there are a small number of students who are repeating a year of medical school, are at risk of having to repeat a year, or have already done so. I am hoping that some of those groups are active on here.

I have a blog that touches on some of the issues/obstacles/strategies for approaching a repeat year and I would like to build on it to form a type of support community. I would love to hear from people who have already been through it and how it affected them for residency interviews and such. I would also just like to have it be a center of a public forum for students to talk about their experiences, provide support and guidance, etc.

I'm not in the situation you're asking about, but I really like the tone and the part of your blog: where you say:

This was discouraging, however for various reasons that I will discuss as this blog goes on, I decided to forge on and start from the beginning again. Now, when people hear I am repeating a year of medical school *GASP* they have varying responses from “thank goodness I am not you, please go away so I don’t catch your disease” to “you must be an idiot” to “I have a bazillion questions about this school year since you’ve been here before”. ----- SO TRUE.

I think this highly stems from complete anal-retentiveness and neuroticism (as demonstrated by SDN to a large degree) that medical school environment (esp. at certain schools) tends to inflame.

I agree completely. It really does vary from school to school. I have spoken with students at many different universities and I am always stunned by how drastically different they are, not just curriculums, but 'personalities' as well.
