i recently took step 2 ck on thursday june 13

now i guess i read or had heard of a lot of people saying it's not as difficult as step1, need less time to prep, etc etc

i studied for about 5 weeks, 6 hrs a day min, averaging 8hrs most days i guess?
did lots of uw, read mtb, read step up to medicine, etc etc

and i thought it was more difficult than step1

is this an abnormal feeling to have? i did like solid on my step 1, and i was hoping to not go below that score on my step 2 ck, but i dunno

i thought that a lot of questions were really random, out of nowhere. like stuff i hadnt really seen from anything i studied. i thought it was a long exam, and i found myself pressed for time when i have never been before.

when i left my step 1 prometric center, i didnt feel like "aw yea i just killed that exam" but i was felt ok about it at least. this time i felt very like empty and drained and like my soul had just been shattered by aliens

slightly concerned about my score

did anyone else feel this way or am i pretty much crazy ?

I took my test in May and got the result in mid June. I felt pretty good coming out of step 1 and the thought of failure never crossed my mind. I felt like you coming out of step 2 and had a couple of dreams saying that I failed. My prep for step 2 was much better compared to step 1, I felt more confident going in, my UW scores were much higher and my practice scores were higher. In the end I scored about 10 points higher on step 2 ck. I hope this makes you feel a little better.

You probably did alright, did you take any practice tests? If so how did you do?
You can read thru the ck experience thread, I am sure you aren't the only one with that experience.

good luck with results!

I agree with you 100%. I studied basically the same amount and materials as you and I felt exactly the same afterwards. I took my test on the 19th.

thanks for the support.

i guess i was j/w what people thought about step1 compared to step2ck

people say your score is supposed to increase, step2ck is easier, study less etc etc

i feel like it was a harder exam and i'm not sure if i did better than my step1. and i thought i studied pretty hard for it.

I just took the exam today and I think I got rocked...like drooling and seeing stars rocked.

I took CBSSA form 6 about 2 weeks ago and got a 450 (227). I was actually content with the score because the breakdown was just as I expected: bombed OB, GYN, and Peds ('*' on low end of all 3 of those in score report), and did reasonably well in everything else. So for the next 2 weeks (4 hours per day), I focused on ob/gyn and peds and figured I could get up to 240 with moderate improvement in those areas. I also worked on my tan (~4 hours/day).

The real test was nothing like NBME 6. Question stems were easily 2-3 x longer and answer choices were less clear cut. I feel like I did average on 2 sections, above average on 2, and hammered on 4. In contrast, on NBME 6 I felt average the whole way through. Most notable difference was that I didn't feel like I glazed over large sections out of pure fatigue (possibly boredom, too). My flow and clarity was better on NBME 6, and i think it's because the stems were shorter and answers were more obvious.

UWorld average was steady at 62-65% (for unanswered questions).

I don't know what the hell happened on the real thing and don't know how to gauge this performance. Everyone seems to report same or better performance on Step 2 compared the NBME self assessments. Then again, none of the scores are normal. You rarely hear about bad or average scores on SDN. I don't know what to think because I felt choked by a sense of despair after I came out of that test.

Thoughts?

What did you think of the EKG questions? Were the quality of the EKGs and the difficulty of the questions comparable to UWorld? Any comments are appreciated.

I had 2 EKG questions. One of them was a dead-ringer. The other one wasn't. Good quality. Difficulty was probably comparable to UWorld.

I took it yesterday. To buck the trend, I didn't find anything particularly surprising or feel too strongly about my performance one way or the other. Did forms 4 and 6 over the last couple days and thought the real thing was comparable. There were several questions that asked you to evaluate studies, which I had never seen much of with the practice questions. Like, what is the single biggest concern you have regarding the validity of the authors' conclusions. It was tough cause several of the answers seemed reasonable. But otherwise the test was a fair mix of absolute gimmies, long stems that made you think, and a couple on things I had no clue on. Also had a couple questions on alternative medicine and some ethics stuff. My sections ranged from 41-45 questions, most of them 44.
