Hey guys,

(TLDR) I was wondering if anyone has tried paid/professional interview coaching and if so, what services they used and if they think it helped them?

Background: I applied to 36 schools (MD+DO) this cycle, got 2 interviews, prepared like crazy (on my own and mock interviews with friends), and got wait listed at both schools. I applied to master's programs and have been getting everything together to start one next year. In a stroke of what felt like divine intervention, I actually got another II earlier this month and will be interviewing next week. I honestly always thought med school advising services were a waste of money and had never considered using one, but after preparing for months and getting wait listed at both of the schools that interviewed me, I feel like my confidence is shot. I would really like to get some help and would be interested in paying $100-$200 for a professional mock interview with feedback, but all of the interview services I have found are $350-$550 for one interview which seems crazy to me. Has anyone used one of these? Was it helpful? Is there a more cost-effective alternative? Any and all feedback would be appreciated.

I did two mock interviews at my university career center and one that I paid 350 for and the two free ones were equally helpful if not better. My university let's you use career center up to two years after graduation. Also I should say I got waitlisted at the MD two schools I interviewed at but have since been accepted to one of them.

I didn't do a single mock interview, but I listened to Kevin Ahern guides online, read two interview prep books and then just practiced by myself in the car. I had 5 interviews, got 4 acceptances and 1 WL that I withdrew from. So, there are so many free resources out there. If you have money and 300-500 is not a big deal, than go for it. Otherwise, PM me, I really want to help. I'll be able to give you some tips and resources that I used.

I'll have to look into that! I figured I wouldn't be eligible for the ones that my school offered because I graduated in 2017, but maybe they have the same rule. Thanks and congrats on your acceptance!
