how should it even work? the way i envision it is that it's only possible to do if there is a video recording of everything you mark and you have a person who goes over that video on one screen and your answers on the other or on a print out and compares them to each other. and this is probably even more error-prone. i mean seriously, do you really doubt that a computer would mark a "C" as an "A" if you did indeed mark it as a "C"? If that were the case, there would be multiple test takers who got unexpected scores.
i somehow doubt it makes any sense to doubt a computer performing such a basic computational step? i think this offer for a recheck is just a remnant from the days when there was a paper and pencil test and is only offered to pacify some rule that states that we should have an access to a recheck.
there maybe someone who has worked on something similar to the program what USMLE uses but other than the interface there really isnt much of a difference between most of exam software because it involves clicking on a choice that you choose... dont know. i might be totally wrong... would be interesting to know though
