Hey all,

I am a med 2 with a busy life (kids, spouse, still have some job committments hanging on - gotta dump those soon 🙄 ). Recently I was diagnosed with hypertension :scared: . I feel, unfortunately, that my choices in the past two years are directly influencing my health for the worse. I mean, I try to workout on some kind of regular schedule, but lets face it - it is getting harder and harder to fit it in and to control my schedule to any extent. I don't feel my diet is that bad, but obviously it's not great (too much prepared foods = lots of sodium).

Anyone else in this boat? Misery loves company 🙁

Yes, me 🙂 Alot of people have heard this spiel from me but basically I finished up my premed stuff and of course recently developed some liver condition while I have no insurance. (And what's worse I still haven't gotten my results of my liver biopsy back.)

Anyway hope you feel better.(At least since you know what you have they can treat you.)

Persistent, high levels of the wrong kind of stress = health consequences. I am sure that you are not at all alone in this.
I always feel sorry for anyone who has kids in medical school or residency, esp. for women, since most men in our society still don't do a fair share of houesework & childrearing, even when the female partner works or studies full time. There are times when one has to demand more than a fair share from one's partner, and med school is one of those times.
It sounds like you need to cut some things out of your life: extra jobs, non-essential school activities (i.e. committees, clubs), bad food, time spent being a wife/mom. Either that or buy stock in heart medicine companies. I'm not being snide, just realistic about what a change would really mean.

Best of luck (and health) to you
