What do med schools think of applicants who actually work at a hospital? I'm still a young pre-med and I do transport at my hospital.
Anybody have any input?

I think it depends on the extent of the clinical experience gained from the job. As a transporter, you're obviously coming into contact with patients which is important, but will you have the opportunity to transfer into a more medically related position (Nursing asst, tech, etc)? I think that would hold more weight than the transporter position.

I did Transport work and CNA work, and I got all my material for talking in interviews from my transport job. As a CNA you really just see one floor every day, but doing transport I saw every part, sleep lab, ED, MRI, Morgue, ICU, PICU, CICU Med-Surg, everything. I think it will be a big help to you. Oh, and nothing makes you a shoe in.

Hell yeah, I see everything. I even get to watch the radiologists do interventional procedures. Glad to see that it helped you, and I know that I must exceed in other areas as well. Thanks for your reply.
