Hello,

If you as an MD-PhD have been affected by state licensing laws which limit the amount of time between Step 1 and Step 3, please let me know either on here or through direct message. I would especially like to hear the stories of those impacted in the state of Texas, but stories from anyone from any state are also helpful. This is regarding potential legislative action to address the current laws.

Thank you.

In our Texas medical school, we have not had a problem after several dozens of graduates. The process only requires to pro-actively get a recertification signed at our UME office at time of Step 2 or so (MS-4). Earlier today, we received an email address to three of our Texas MSTP directors and none of us three recalled any recent problems since an issue was addressed (perhaps poorly in the writing of the directive by the medical board) before 2010.
