Have you ever been convicted of a crime other than a minor traffic violation?

Anybody know with certainty which DO schools ask this question of their applicants? Perhaps people who've applied before or people who've seen secondaries online? I have a disorderly conduct conviction which is classified as a violation in my state of NY, but I don't want it revealed. As long as the question asks about misdemeanors and felonies, I'm fine answering no since I won't be technically lying. I've heard that whole honesty is best policy thing, but my choice is to not apply to those schools which ask this blanket statement. I just want to know which schools will/won't ask this all-encompassing question so I can save my $$ by not selecting them in the first place.

Thanks in advance 🙂

I applied to most schools and the only questions in that line had the words "misdemeanor or felony" so you're cool. I raed on the pre-allo board that some allo schools even asked about traffic tickets lol.

Be very careful that the final disposition on your criminal record does not show a misdemeanor. You can either hire an attorney to check it for you, or check yourself, but becareful of internet services. Until you've seen it yourself, do not assume that your final disposition or crime was not listed on your criminal history. If it's there, report it. If it MIGHT be there, and it's as minor as you say, just report it.

Many crimes are treated as "infractions" (a california legal term, unknown what the translation in your state is), with minor punishments, HOWEVER, the final disposition is indeed a misdemeanor (example: Possession of less than 1oz of marijuana. Suspect recieves a "ticket" and the process is treated as an infraction, suspect is not taken into custody and booked etc, but the final disposition if convicted is indeed a misdemeanor). This is important to courts who use past criminal history to determine how to treat a current defendant.

Personally, the more you try to minimize and hide it, the more suspicious it looks. Just put it down, and don't give it undue attention. If someone asks you, you tell them what happened, admit fault, and move on. No one is insisting you shout MEA CULPA and tear your clothes and hair, but people DO insist that you internalize the "mea culpa" and by your thoughtful actions and words convince them that it was a one-time error in judgement.

Don't worry about it, they will only ask for CONVICTIONS of misdemeanors and felonies on the initial application. When you apply for a license they will ask for arrests, which could mean a simple appearance ticket. Don't stress it though if you research this topic enough you will learn that it might be a ghost that follows you, but nothing that will stop you from becoming a doctor. If I was you I would try to get it expunged, go to a lawyer who has a good repoirte (I think that is how you spell that damn word) with the court that you had to appear in. If you get it expunged you can legally say that you were never arrested, otherwise you will have to admit this when it comes time for licensing and most likely for residency.

How many freaking forums did you start this thread on, anyway???????? sheesh!
