dude! you are annoying the living crap out of me. i am normally a chill person, but you need to stop posting crap like this. you make dead people nervous! by the way, you are giving bruins and vietnamese people a bad reputation. being both of these, you need to stop embarassing me!

word of advice. apply to UCLA and find out, it will cost you less than a 100 bucks for both primary and secondary! if not, with the gpa and mcat score you posted on your last thread, i am sure you will get into some UC med school. if you think your life will be over if you dont get into UCLA, then once you are done with med school somewhere else, please post your place of practice, so i can avoid you like the plague. just chill!

hey buddy no need for the harsh attitude... nobody made you read watever i post... didn't your mommy ever teach you the rule "if you don't have anything nice to say... don't say it at all?"

and talk about embarassing bruins and vietnamese... you make it seem like these 2 types of people are unaccepting and uncompassionate... maybe YOU should chill... thanks for the response anyhow...

please stop the bickering. you guys are gonna be doctors, respect your peers no matter what

just wondering 🙂

sorry bout that didn't mean to start anything... but i think that it is extremely uncalled for to say that one is an embarassment to his or her own people... i'm over it though...

and thanks for info sdnstud 🙂

to the OP,
I think sometimes people just get frustrated when there is a plethora of available information out there on other posts, ie. the "sticky's", mdapplicants.com, previous posts, school websites, that many SDNers are a little too lazy to look up. If you have simple questions, maybe try looking it up through available resources first.

SDN is definitely a place to ask questions, but sometimes the board gets filled up with "personalized questions" and then the threads that are really popular get lost on previous pages.

Good luck to you though!

this isn't the first time this nguyen guy has made absolutely irritating posts. he made one a few weeks (maybe months) ago as i recall about whether or not he could get into ucla with an mcat score he pulled out of thin air although he hadn't even really taken the mcat then. huhhh... 🙄

hey premedadag... i appreciate your considerate approach to telling me how this forum works... i'm new so i don't know the rules of sdn yet... now if everyone could tell give constructive criticism this way the world would be a much nicer place! 🙂

you asked if we knew anyone at UCLA with an 8 verbal. what if I told you I knew of people at UNC with a 24. Harvard with 23. UCSF with 25. UCLA with a 26. what im trying to say is double digits in each section are highly sought after, but its not the only thing. also on the other side, it is not uncommon for people with near perfect scores to be rejected. my friend was rejected with a 3.89 GPA, 40 MCAT score. what happened here? i dont know? she's stuck at some little school up north called Stanford, poor soul 🙂

if you got everything else you should be fine. once you get that interview, there are really no differences between an 8 verbal and 15. Just coming from a round of interviews myself, never did my mcat scores or gpa come up. all they asked me was life shaping things and experiences.

remember, MCAT scores of schools are averages, so you must assume that there are 45's and there are 20's accepted to get an average of 32 or so that i think UCLA has. that goes the same for each subject score. 8 is below their 10, yes, but your 13's are above their other sections. GPA times x plus mcat times y equals total score. the higher the score, the higher chance of being interviewed. thats how it works at most schools.

in closing, good luck to you. UCLA is a great school, and going there would be a complete honor. but there are just as many great schools out there. during the application dont set your heart on something until you get accepted there. My friend wanted UCLA so bad, then she got UCSF, then she got Stanford. with a full ride (MSTP), it was an easy choice for her. Plus you are attending UCLA or have attended right? Dont you want to see what other cities and med schools have to offer? with stats like yours, play the field and go to the interviews with an open mind to see where you fit in. plus the food in westwood sucks 😛 (small reason to decide where to go to med school, but not when you got the munchies during exam weeks!)

thanks for the change in attitude! and thanks man for all the good advice... i guess i've been brainwashed with the whole "VERBAL IS YOUR TICKET IN" mentality haha good luck to you man...

if you have a 34 with an 8, im pretty sure you would get into usc. the only reason i say that is that i heard they only care about your overall score. ucla is probably a little more normal and looks at each part. in that case, if you scored well on the essay part then i think you should be okay. and like others have said, ucla is great, but not the only school in america. good luck.
