Trade secrets and bomb threats aside, I think part of the concern re: anonymity is that some of us are not as diplomatic, glib or well-thought-out (you can see I'm fishing for words here) as others, and in a moment of temporary inducible insanity may misrepresent ourselves in a way that might (oh slippery slope!) harm our career prospects in the long term. Everyone's level of offendedness is so different. And not everyone who is offended speaks out here.
On a positive note, being able to post a pic often denotes accountability. (Which is not to say that someone who didn't, isn't a pillar of society!)
Keep in mind that once one posts one's residency institution, it tends not to be too hard to Google a name (and a pic).
So if someone
really wanted to get you, chances are you are going to be bitten in the behind whether or not you post a pic!
I think I might just go with posting my pic as part of the whole Match celebration thingy. (Hopefully it will be a celebration!
