Hello all,

I searched for similar trends but most of the "admissions" trends were geared towards those with a PhD.

My question or general comment is that does holding an MS offer any advantage within an MD/PhD admission application?

I will be completing an MS with research in Cardiac Fluid Mechanics and want to apply to Medical school. On the one hand, it makes sense that a MS would help with applications since it shows that you can conduct research at the graduate level and stick with it. Yet from what I have read about MD admissions, anything can go and graduate school performance is viewed as a nice EC.

Any help or comments would be greatly appreciated.

The experience matters, not the degree. If the MS was largely or entirely coursework, it is just another EC and is time wasted. If the MS was largely research, it will be useful for applications, but only because of the research, not the degree.

I think mercapto's post is spot on. In this game, nobody really cares about coursework (with some exceptions), undergrad, or master's theses. It's time served in a lab doing experiments and using your brain, with bonus points for things that demonstrate some success (abstract, pub, etc).
