Hi Everyone,

so I'm going to be applying to medical school in the next year or two. I have a recommendation letter from my research mentor (leadership + research), and I'm hoping to get to know my current professors better in hopes of asking them to write recommendation letters for me.

However, I wanted to know if it would be beneficial for me to ask my friend who was a TA for one of my non-science classes to write a recommendation letter for me since he is trying to get a PhD at the moment.

I ask this because I will have 2 science letter of recommendations from faculty members, but wanted to see what I could do with my 3rd letter of recommendation. I wanted to ask him to possibly write a recommendation letter for me since he calls me one of his best students, which I believe would benefit me on my application.

Nope. His letter won't hold any weight because med schools will be suspicious of this exact thing. Academic letters should really only be from professors or teaching faculty.
