I'm sinking. I don't know what to do. I'm a 5th year senior applying to pharmacy schools right now. I'll probably get in somewhere but now I have no idea what to do.

With all the talk about the grim outlook of recent grad pharmacists and the bad outlook of the job as a whole; idk if I even wantt od o this anymore. Not to mention I want to live somewhere near a major metropolitan area (which I've come to realize is nearly impossible).

My only issue is if I don't go to pharamcy school this year.. I don't know what to do with my life. I don't want ot go back home, I've literally never had a job before, I've tried applying to jobs and are unable to get them. Credit card debt and undergrad loans are looming on the horizon...

At this point I feel like I'm forced into pharamcy school just to have a decent job since I have a degree in nutrition with no use to me or in the job world in general. I just dont know what to do anymore. Any help/advice would be appreciated :/.

People say go to med school but I don't have the stats for that (3.1gpa and barely any medical volunteer experience). Just feel like blargh.

If you aren't going to pharmacy school because you WANT to be a pharmacist, then you shouldn't be going to pharmacy school.
Consider other health care jobs, Nursing school, Paramedic, Nurse Practitioner (some programs do not require RN/BSN), Physician Assistant.
Pharmacy is great for people who actually want to be a pharmacist. I ask Pharm and Pre-Pharm students - Would you go be a pharmacist if you made half as much and almost certainly had to move to get a job right out of school? If the answer is no, then it is time to think of something else. This is no longer the profession for semi-smart students who want a high paying, guaranteed job out of school and are sort-of interested in healthcare. People don't go to medical school because they think they wouldn't mind being a doctor for the rest of their life. They go because they want to be a doctor no matter how much work it takes.

I've literally never had a job before, I've tried applying to jobs and are unable to get them.

I have seen a few of your threads and it seems like you have no direction at all. You have been accepted to an in-state school, but desired to go elsewhere. Then you sent applications to out-of-state schools, but now want out due to whatever the future may hold. No one is forcing you into pharmacy and if you are already giving up as you struggle to get an entry level job then maybe your resolve is not strong enough for pharmacy school.

With that said, no one on this forum will be able to answer what you should be doing with your life. It is up to you to decide if you have the passion and willingness to continue pharmacy as a career. Any path you choose will always have the lumps and bumps. Good luck.

You need to take a deep breath and figure out what you want out of a career.

Why were you initially drawn to pharmacy? Do you actually enjoy the idea of pharmacy as a profession and are worried primarily about the economic side of the equation?

Pharmacy may face a saturation soon, but it won't destroy the profession. SDN is often loaded with 'sky-is-falling' dramatics in virtually every sub-forum. If you want to become a pharmacist then don't let a few negative, anonymous folks on the internet dissuade you -- keep in mind that most content professionals aren't spending their time on SDN screaming over how happy they are.

Not to sound like an jerk, but you need to look at what you are saying. You've never had a job before in your life, you racked up debt, you don't want to live at home, you want to live in a major city. Something has got to give, and you are going to have to start at the bottom somewhere. Maybe it is living at home while you pay down your debt and work your way up the career ladder. A sacrifice is going to have to be made.

If you do get into pharm school, the debt is only to rack up higher, and the CC debt isn't going to get postponed while in school. Just another thing to think about.

You got a degree in nutrition, was it clinical nutrition? Did your degree come with the requirements to apply for a dietic internship to become a R.D.? This would be an option beside pharmacy.
