I've always liked medicine, but I'm feeling a little hesitant about pursuing pharmacy. I like Chemistry (and science in general) and dealing with the public. My retail experience kind of has me worried though because I can't picture myself happy doing that for the rest of my life. I think Clinical pharmacy or industry looks really interesting, but I also know that sometimes things look one way, but actually end up being something else. What do you guys think? I'm probably just going to go ahead and enroll in Pharmacy school and if I'm unhappy I can always continue my education in something else because I'll be pretty young when I get my pharmD (24 yrs old)

Just keep in mind, your career doesn't have to define who you are or dictate your happiness. While it may be nice to wake up and love what you are doing every day of your life, the chances of that are very, very slim. Be realistic and assess what it is you want out of life and go from there. Remember, pharmacy is a great career with versatility. If you can't think of a dream situation or job, pharmacy is at least very stable and respectable.

But if you are having doubts and you have incredible stats, do some of us a favor and don't add to the competition. hehehe. good luck with it all man.

Maybe the schools will decide for you and you won't get into pharmacy school. Just Joking, but the question was so vague and subjective I doubt you expected a real answer.

lol mr. nicethai's response was pretty reassuring.....I just wanna make sure I'm not making a huge mistake and wasting my time. I guess most people think pharmacy is a safe bet, which it definitely is

Thats why I chose pharmacy: because I am not interested in becoming an MD. Pharmacy is less debt, less time in school.

To the op: You also should rememeber, pharmacy is a diverse field. It is not just retail and clinical. There are many other job options with a pharmD in pharmacy.

I also learned that most jobs require a great deal of repitition and there will always be something you hate about your job, whatever it is.

I guess one's motivation for being a pharmacist is rather irrelevant these days as long as you do not harm the patients. Still, it erks me when people at school say the only reason they want to be a pharmacist is because of all the money. Its the most accessible form of health care arguably...its not as if you could just waltz right into your Dr.'s office and demand he give you a FREE consultation.

This may sound really cliche' , but I honestly believe that being a pharmacist is not just a good career but its more of a privilege. 😉
