I have recently applied to pharm schools, and I am only short one class, microbiology lab. Most Pharm schools say they want the pre reqs complete by spring of the year before you attend, but is this always mandatory? I graduated last year and only want to go back and take that course if I get in...I'm not sure what to do...

They should give you a deadline for the pre-req courses. Some schools will say by the end of the first summer term, which is common. In that case, just take it during the summer.

If the school says by the end of spring, then yes, they usually mean it.

I'm in somewhat of a similar predicament, as I need 1-2 more classes depending on the school's prerequisites. I really want to take them in the summer, not the spring, but some of the schools I applied to state they should be done in the spring. I called those schools to see if they could make any exception or lenience on this deadline and all of them said NO EXCEPTIONS.

There are plenty of schools who say you can finish them by the end of summer too though. It's about half/half on my list.

Each school is different. It will say on their website or you can call directly to verify.
