I just got a summer research internship, and although it is a super cool topic, it is completely different from the type of research I was doing for the past couple of months. I'm just wondering if adcoms may see this as me just jumping from one field to a different field, instead of demonstrating consistency in one field of research? I'd love to hear your thoughts.

As long you are able to consistently and accurately talk about the research that you conducted, maintaining consistency in a single field isn’t really relevant. You’re in undergrad, whole point is to explore what you want to do for the rest your life. It won’t be a penalty or a bonus to explore research in many different fields, what matters is your effort and your understanding
