  1. Dental Student
I'm starting this September, and UCLA wants me to collect teeth from local dentists. I got my materials and I have the letter from UCLA, but so far all the dentists say no or insist that their is an OSHA regulation against giving me teeth (UCLA's letter says thier is not). I'm gonna try the dentist I shadowed tomorrow. I left a message earlier but they did not get back to me. What did you guys do to get them to give up the goods?

I had no problems bringing in a jar to my family dentists, especially since they all went to LSU as well and knew what was going on. My suggestion would be to find out what dentists in your area went to UCLA and call them. They will be more likely to understand.

ahhhh UCLA...

Today...problem getting teeth
tomorrow...problem getting patients

Dont bother calling GP's, just call the oral surgeons!

and orthodontist - they tend to remove healthy teeth just because there is no room (in the mouth).

shawnone-enjoy teaching yourself with the pbl system.

That's funny, I graduated in June from UCLA and never had a problem getting patients. I would be more worried if I had been at USC...I'd be like 400k in debt right now, and still pissed that I paid that much to teach myself in PBL. Although, I guess living in the great part of LA where USC is located would make it all worth it.

Your fees/tuition off-campus is 233,559.00. So, about 75k more than you... not THAT much different in the grand scheme of things 😉

No joke! After having finished the first 2 years of PBL, I must say it was rather enjoyable and low stress. Nothing like the pain you will endure at UCLA.

I find this funny. Would you also be pissed if you hired a personal trainer and he made you lift the weights rather than him do it for you? BTW, I'd probably be a little worried if I was 400k in debt too, good thing i wont be...

You guys need to relax, I was just poking fun

Not sure why this has become and USC vs UCLA thread.

ANyhoo, I have some good news. Then dentist I shadowed did agree to give teeth, and he gave me the number to the oral surgeons he refers out to. So looks like I'm on my way!

we are just bitter because they have a better football team...

Give your jar to a periodontist. Unless you want all 3rd molars and bicuspids. You will need incisors, canines, molars, and premolars. You don't need them first quarter.
