Having trouble with gen chem, please advise

Hey Guys so I'm studying for the gen chem section and am feeling discouraged. I'm going through the kaplan subject tests for gen chem - I can do all the concept problems but it's the calculation problems that are giving me trouble, (mainly the ones where its not cut and clear what they're asking for - Also I don't know what to do to start solving the problem...I just pull a blank and am afraid that I won't know know how to solve the calculation problem on the actual DAT.

Anyone else have this problem with gen chem? Any advice? Thanks.

i had the same problem but you just gotta keep doin problems and seein what mistakes your making
carefully read the explanations that they give you and learn from them.
chemistry is very conceptual, and it will take some time to apply it, but keep doing practice problems.

take a look at chads videos as well, and i suggest lookin at ACS study guides

Don't sweat how to solve calculations too much, they usually don't expect you to come to a final answer. Just know how to set-up the problems and the concepts behind it and you will be gold. Good Luck!

yeah setting up the calcculation is mainly the problem i'm having. my hope is that after doing enough problems that i will just memorize how to do them...as their are only so many things they can ask. btw nice job on your DAT!

are u have trouble with all types of calculation problems, or just specific types? May i ask what method are you using to set up the problems?
