Hi, I am looking to start applying to schools in about 3-4 years. I am wondering because my insurance is going to run out next month, are there any vaccinations or health tests that I can do now so I wont have to worry about them later? Would they last that long?

Thank you.

Most schools will require the following immunizations:
- Tdap (needs to be updated every ~10 years)
- Measles
- Rubella
-Hep B
- Mumps
- Varicella

Some schools may also request a Tb test, and possibly a few other outliers. Most of these vaccines you should have had already when you were younger.

Schools will also require that you receive blood titers for these diseases further prove your immunity. I am not sure, however, how recent the blood titers have to be (ie- If the schools wouldn't want 4 year old blood work).

I know at least a few schools also require a physician exam within a few months of matriculation- so that will be unavoidable.

Hope that helps

Typically your history and physical will have to be within one year of matriculation, and the PPD skin test is required annually. You will be asked to submit your history and immunization records before matriculation. Some schools may let you get your physical and catch up on the other stuff at their student health center after orientation.

This. Most of the programs I have looked at will allow you to get them done at their student health center. In saying that, your Hep B vaccination takes ~6 months to complete, and you are not allowed to have patient interaction until it is finished, so you should definitely get on top of that.

OP: The only things that wouldn't still be acceptable in 3-4 years would be your TB test, which (as stated) must be done annually, and the physical examination/blood titers.
