Hi everyone! I applied Early Decision for VCU and was just wondering if anyone has heard back yet? I know they said we'd hear back by December if prerequisites were already completed but just wanted to see if anyone has gotten an email/call yet?

I’m applying to VCU as well but I thought the deadline was Dec 1st? I haven’t applied yet. I was waiting to hear back from some other programs I’ve interviewed at.

That is reg decision I think!

Have you heard back from VCU for early decision? I applied ED as well and have not heard back yet. I have seen two others who were accepted Thursday/Friday.

They emailed me Thursday night saying that they were moving my application for consideration during the regular admissions process. I don't know if anyone else received the same email but it was unbelievably poorly crafted. I was actually really disappointed in the grammar and lack of attention-to-detail in such an important email.

That is disappointing. I am wondering whether I should email them to see if they are done making decisions for ED. Seems like I should have gotten an email by now, good or bad news. Good luck during regular admissions!

I don't think it would hurt to email them especially since they were supposed to respond to everyone who had their completed pre-reqs and applied early by December! And thank you! Good luck to you as well. I hope they let you know soon!

Also, would you happen to know the stats of those people who were accepted?

I do not know the exact stats but I know they had very good grades and presumably good GRE scores. I don't think their experiences were too impressive, but I find that it can be a game of numbers sometimes. Sorry I couldn't be of more help, I don't know the people incredibly well. I know VCU is pretty picky about their GRE scores though. I met all the criteria for the ED applicants minus the prerequisite GPA so I was expecting to at least me moved to regular admission...

That's alright. Thanks for the info! I don't see why they wouldn't move you to regular admission at the least. Keeping my fingers crossed for ya!

Hey vt18! I applied for reg admission, and since you got moved to that I was wondering if you could tell me your stats! (I don’t have much to compare to, so wondering how realistic it is for me to get even waitlisted.) Thanks!

Major: Human Development
Minor: Medicine and Society
Overall GPA: 3.83 (OTCAS Verified)
Pre-Req GPA: 3.91 (also varies depending on the school but usually between 3.8-3.9 ish)
GRE: 149 (Verbal), 145 (Quantitative), 5 (Analytical Writing) - I'm definitely not the best test taker

Extra-Curric:
-Student Outreach Committee Member/Co-Director of Programming/Mentor of Programming for an organization called The Big Event (we have the 2nd largest in the nation)
-Gamma Phi Beta sorority sister serving as an academic proctor for study hours and mentor to two sisters
-Former City-Wide Leadership Workshop staff member for my hometown serving as a staff member for two years creating/facilitating large group activities for 200+ students, teaching sessions on S.M.A.R.T. goals, and serving as a counselor to middle and high school students

Volunteer:
-Outcomes Survey Undergraduate Research Student for Adult Day Services (144 hours)
-Field Study Student at Adult Day Services (144 hours)
-Former Rehabilitation Program Assistant for a CCRC (198 hours)
-Former Field Study Student at a local community hospital (110 hours - 10 peds, 50 inpatient, 50 outpatient)
-Skilled Nursing Student Observer (43 hours)

While I was expecting them to be concerned about my GRE scores, they told me that my varied range of experiences didn't come through in my value-added essay. I talked a lot about my different leadership roles within The Big Event and how it related to OT. However, they told me that my application was competitive for the regular admissions cycle. Just hoping to at least get waitlisted at this point! I wish you the best of luck!!!

Thanks! Your stats are awesome too!! I'm sure you won't have a problem getting waitlisted at the least either! Based on posts from last year, I think regular decision applicants heard back mid-January so hopefully they contact you soon! Best of luck to you!

I was moved to regular admission as well!

Do you think they'll notify us mid-January like the rest of the regular decision applicants? Or do you think they'll update us in February since we were moved from early decision?

They told me they would start sending out acceptances in early March until the class is filled mid-April. I think we will hear back a little later since I don't think they have notified the rest of the early decision applicants who needed fall semester grades submitted and they are supposed to be notified end of December to January 15th I believe. I think February could be possible though!

Did you hear anything back? I wasn't sure if they were going to wait to tell the people who initially applied for ED until they notify all the regular decision applicants!

No, I haven’t heard back yet. Have you? I thought we might hear sooner since they already reviewed and scored ours but maybe they are waiting to review more for comparison.

Hey guys! I also just got accepted to JMU so now I am in a little bit of a dilemma as to which of the two I should choose.. any advice would be much appreciated!

Congrats on getting into JMU! When do you have to let them know by? What’s the other school you’re choosing between? VCU?

Does anyone know if VCU is still admitting students? I haven't heard back from them at all, so I was wondering if they had any openings left.

They are still working on getting them out within the next two weeks!
