Hey, just wondering if anyone can offer any advice on which company to go with. I know there have a thousand threads on this subject, but couldn't find many that had recent specs about Heine. Both companies came by my school recently and I am really torn between the two. For Heine, they definitely had the better lense. It was amazing how much brighter the image was when looking through the lens, compared with the other companies. They also seemed to have a more clear image; and also have a greater angle of declination which might be helpful in the long run to save my back. The downside is that they are flip-ups and seem to weigh a tad more than the ttl's of orascoptic. When I looked through Orascoptic's loupes, I didn't get a very clear image (possible due to they were demo glasses...not adjusted for my eye width) and the image was darker...but the glasses were very light. Both companies use the same frame (Rudy's). And compared with orascoptic's flipups, Heine's were much lighter...but i think they are just a tad heavier than ora. ttl's. I just wish Heine made a TTL!! Well, any advice would be much appreciated. I don't really WANT to buy a pair, but I have been told that our professors will be using loupes to grade our carvings...so I guess I don't want to be at a disadvantage. Thanks!

don't know about heine, but I have a pair of orascoptic ttl's and they have performed very well for me. it helps when they are customized--

You can't really judge a pair of TTL loupes unless they have been customized to your interpupillary distance. Unless they are made for the measurements of your face, they don't really work. I have a pair of 3.8X TTL Orascoptic loupes and they are fantastic. I also know several members of my class who purchased the 2.5X TTL in the Rudy frames and they are very happy with them. Orascoptic is a good company (owned by Sybron Dental) and they have good customer service, which is important for loupes. I have never seen Heine loupes, so I can't fairly compare them.

I tried on a pair of heine loupes at the oregon dental convention in April. They were awesome. the best that i tried on. In addition the rep in my area is a really nice guy and will work hard for his customers. I hope that I have the option to buy heine when we get our chance to buy loupes.

Thank you for your thoughts and advice. It really helps to hear what others are thinking. More would be appreciated...especially from those with experience using Heine...
Thanks

just fitted with some orascoptic rudy frames a couple of weeks ago, havent got them yet but i have been looking around and they seem a little pricey compared to what else is out there

i ordered the orascoptic sport frames a couple weeks ago....have not got them yet, but they were very nice when i tried them on. orascoptic provides a local rep. that stops by the school every few weeks which was a huge plus for me.

jb!🙂

I appreciate your input...but we have all "tried" on the various kinds and had our own opinions. What I am hoping for is a little advice from some ppl that have had theirs for quite awhile. Thanks
