I am a senior in college, and applied for 2007-2008 cycle.
I want to get some research experience in undergrad.(haven't had any)
I just wonder if it is ok for predentals to be involved in research not related to dentistry, and talk about it in interviews at dental schools.
(I am looking for computational biology research job..so something like behavior, genetics, plant breeding, etc.)

Thank you!

yes it is fine. they want you to have research experience and they want you to talk about it. I dont think that they specify the kind of research experience they want you to have. mostly, they want you to talk about it in a way that shows them that you understand what was going on and how helpful it was in shaping your character. Because there is more to research then just the academic aspect of it. hope this helps!

Thank you for the answers!
I just have one more question...
I am majoring in math, and would it look OK if I do research unrelated to my major?

how about a research experience in psychology?

I was under the impression that research illustrated an interest in the pursuit of knowledge - a very general, but important trait in a humanistic science. Hell, I even listed my research experience in religious studies, which was a pull paper for canonizing Gandhi as a Christian saint. Pretty far outside of science and dentistry, but diversity isn't a bad thing.
