Hey guys,
What do you recommend?! I know all pre-med pre-reqs require the labs but for the extra sciences (for me they are extra since Im not a science major) do think I should take the labs or only the course??

Here is my dilemma and the reason I ask: I am taking Genetics in the Fall and the lab that I can take is on a Monday afternoon, however; I REALLY have to take another class that would conflict with the lab.

Is it terrible if I only take the class?? Please advise me on what would be best.

Thanks!!!

For the pre-reqs you need the lecture and lab, for all the extra classes like genetics you don't need to take a lab. I took genetics without a lab. Med schools will look for the labs in the pre-reqs they want. If there is another class you need to take, take it! Nice thing about labs you can register for them later after you have taken the lecture, don't need to be at the same time (at least in my school).

Are you someone that learns best in class or in lab? A few of my friends said the labs re-inforced their understanding. To me, they were just a waste of time. Personally, I wouldn't bother with any labs beyond those needs for pre-reqs (2 g-chem, 2-o-chem, 2-bio, 2-physics).

I have to admit that so far the labs have helped to reinforce what I have learned in class. I think Im very visual so actually seeing what I am learning in an experiment helps me remember it better. Howeverrrrr I really need this other class and if it really is not a big deal to medschools to take labs for other classes (apart from pre-reqs) I would rather save my credits to take actual science courses that would help me more, since again I am not a science major.

Thank you guys for the input!!
