My mother and father divorced when I was 2 and neither of them went to college. My mother had me when she was 15, and we lived in poverty until about 6 years ago (I'm 21), my mother was unable to work because of my sister having 3 heart transplants and a kidney transplant and them constantly having to be gone to Dallas for these operations, leaving me and my brother with our grandparents. My sister is on a plethora of medicines and they are paid for by medicare and cost around $1,000 a month and if my mother made more than a certain amount per month she would have to pay for the medicines out of her pocket. My mother and stepfather still live very frugally because of the income restriction on my sisters medicines. And I had to work full-time during my sophomore and freshman year to help pay for school and bills and such, and have recently been able to cut it back to 30 hours a week. Will adcoms take these factors into consideration when I apply if I have a low gpa of 3.5? And am I considered disadvantaged? Thank you so much for your help!

wow you did all that and still had a 3.5? People like you are incredible. Not kidding. Yeah they will def. consider it...

Keep the good job going. I'm sure all ADCOMs will be impressed by that.

good luck in the cycle, keep your head up. I'm sure you'll do fine.

Very inspiring story.

Good luck!

Yes, you are most definitely considered disadvantaged for medical school purposes.
