Are there any schools close (commuting distance) to Hanover that offer graduate studies in education? I haven't really found anything, but I'm limited to internet research. Can anyone familiar with the area help out?

I'm interviewing at Dartmouth soon and I really like what I've learned about the school. My girlfriend's trying to move with me when I go to medical school, but she has to be attending school for that to happen (she's Canadian, needs a Visa 🙁). Since she wants to get her Masters in education and I'm really interested in attending Dartmouth, I'm hoping to find a school she can attend.

Thanks!

Burlington, VT is about an hour's drive away on the interstate and is definitely a commutable option. I assume UVM has a graduate degree program in Education, but I might be wrong. Your other obvious option is UNH in Durham, which is also do-able, but more like 2 hours driving. There are some smaller schools, such as Colby-Sawyer that are closer to Hanover, but they're less likely to have graduate programs.

One other thing to consider with a planned daily commute in New England is the weather... not sure what your girlfriend's experience is with driving in the snow (though she is from Canada) but you can count on at least a few moments of winter terror on New England interstate highways.

Living somewhere in between Hanover and Burlington is worth considering also... you'd both be commuting a little bit, but you'll save quite a bit on housing costs the further you get from the Norwich/Hanover area.

Good luck... PM me if you have any other Hanover-specific questions

I would agree with what the previous poster said. Feel free to PM me as well (recent Dartmouth grad).

Thanks guys. I just found something at Colby-Sawyer that I think might work. I'm trying to avoid a long commute (Burlington), since we both have very little winter driving experience....well, none in my case 🙂
