I'm stressing about what to do. I want to get my app in but some schools won't wait for your new DAT score but some will so I'm wondering what's the best option. When you do your online application can u submit your app to different schools on different dates?

My dat scores are
AA 20 TS 19 PAT 18
(RC 24,OC 21, QR 18, BIO 19 GC19)

I'm a nontraditional student and have been working in open heart surgery for 5 years. My Gpa was 3.6 overall and around 3.3 science.

I think I'm competitive enough for my instate but not for out of state?

I'm applying to OSU, San Fran, which are my top 2 choices and the Boston and Kentucky and Michigan schools

I don't think you need to retake the DAT. Your scores are above average, your GPA is good and your work history should help as well. Not sure exactly what you were doing with open heart surgery--surgical assistant maybe--but that will help. You probably want to apply to more schools though. It's generally accepted that 10-15 schools is target unless you have killer stats like a 4.0 and 26+ DAT.

Thanks for your advice! I'm a cardiovascular perfusionist in open heart surgery. I just figured those scores weren't good enough for anywhere except my instate school just because schools accept so few oos

19.9 is average across the board for all Dental schools. You will have the stats for well over 1/2 of the schools, not to mention your work experience--although I would make sure your Personal Statement includes good reasons for switching from the medical side to the dental side of health care.

when would you retake?

Your score is good, and I'm sure you'll get interviews with your current score and GPA. If you want to retake, however, beginning of July is still considered "early" applicants.
