I took my mcats in april and was not ready..did absolutely horrible.. i studied for the july 30 exam, and i get my scores back monday. so we will see how that goes.

Now.. I am chem major with a gpa of 3.1 cumulative and science ( or major gpa u can say). The only problem I am facing is that I get my degree in dec 2010.. My pre req grades are alright not the best, and i have a c- in bio 2. But in my past two years my grades have all been amazing or u can say a good upward trend. should I retake bio 2? or not.. the cons are 1. its not offered in the fall, and 2. i graduate this semester as stated earlier.

advice please..

r u applying for 2011 or 2012? if ur applying for 2012, i say spread your major over the next 2 semesters instead of cramming it into 1 and retake some of the classes u did bad in. That'll help your gpa out and put u in a better position to get in.

This. Don't graduate in December, graduate in May if you can. Retake Bio 2, its absolutely necessary since as a Chem major it will likely cause you to fall short in the bio requirements. Retake other high unit courses that you got Cs in to improve your GPA. Turn in your application June 1st for next cycle unless you do very well on your MCAT from July. You are getting to the point of it being late, you are also deficient until you retake Bio (unless you have a significant amount of other bio units)

I believe most schools, though maybe it is only some, do not count anything less than a C as fulfilling the pre req, so I would retake it, but if some schools do take it, and your MCAT is decent, I guess you could still apply this cycle, but that's a tad risky imo.

Best to apply for Fall 2012, AFTER retaking classes to eliminate those C grades. Applications are up all over at med schools this year, and so even if you rock the MCAT, you're facing some very good competition, and your GPA will be a big hinderence to you.

good luck on the mcat.l Hope you did better this time. Your gpa is not that great right now so yes retake some of the courses you did poor in and try to do well on them again. This will help your gpa. Apply early for next 2011-2012 cycle. With your gpa applying early is important

Agree with gatewasani don't cram all the courses in this one session. spread it out over two and take some retakes

Im applying to the 2011 cycle, and my application has been verified my aacomas already. Only problem this semester is that i an in school for one class, and im pretty much done. Im taking microbiology. Bio 1 ( repeat) physical chemistry, and chem research. Im applying for DO schools mostly.

and another thing can I take bio 2 after i get my degree? as a repeat or no? Because when you put the grades into AACOMAS, it does not discriminate between schools or transcripts, you put everything in at once.

yes, you can but you're gonna have to put in under post bacc instead of "senior" but that shouldn't matter because it will affect your gpa the same way.
