Just when I thought my decisions were all made, AZCOM called me for an interview! I'm very excited because AZCOM has been in my 'top two' since the beginning. So where do I go first? Interviewfeedback.com of course. Only to be mortified that it is down....
So, anyone out there want to help me with specifics? I have been through enough interviews to know the basics, but need to get a feel for the specific types of questions the interviewers ask at AZCOM.
Thanks a MILLION in advance.

Bicycle2,

My interviewers were way cool....very down to earth. Be prepared for an ethical question possibly. Also, prepare for a challenging hypothetical situation question....my interviewer asked what I would tell her if she had just delivered twins (one was very healthy and one would die due to brain complications). This woman (my interviewer) was pregnant at the time so I really had to think even though it was a hypothetical situation. Was mostly asked about stuff from secondary app.....don't sweat this one. Best interview by far. Hope to see you down there this fall. Good luck!!

Congratulations on your interview 🙂 ! AZCOM is a great school. My interview went great, it lasted ~30 minutes. The only real interview type question they asked me was what disease would you eradicate and why.....the rest of the time was spent talking about my experiences. They also asked me what made me happy.

Hope I helped, even if only a little! That really sucks about interviewfeedback.com. That's how I prepared for my interview!

Good luck to you 😎 😎 !

Thanks guys. I figure an interview this late in the season calls for some serious preparation, and a little luck. You've helped already

Don't worry about the interview. It is very laid back, so different than most of my interviews. They even give you a time and the persons inteviewing you. They provide background on the professors at the school, so you can know the background of the professor on your committee. Definitely think of answers to hypothetical situations, ie. if you could invite three people to dinner who would they be and what would you serve or what is the greatest challenge facing Doctors today or you in your practice, etc. Also, the typical why do you want to be a DO and why AZCOM. I hope this helps. Good luck.

If it was like last year, there was a clinician, a professor and a student doing a panel interview in a room adjacent to the admissions offices.

They do give a short CV of the interviewers but I think that's been mentioned.

There are at least two groups of interviewers. Some may be easier or more difficult. Mine wasn't bad but they did try to throw me for loops a couple of times. They mostly want to get to know you though.

MOST IMPORTANTLY, be yourself! If they ask your opinion, share it. That's what they are looking for. They are also looking for fakers. If they see you thinking on your feet and articulating you viewpoints you're golden!

Good luck!

Hi bicycle - i sent you a PM with a whole bunch of azcom's interview questions that I had saved from interviewfeedback.com

Wow, many thanks to all of you. 😀

i loved my interview!!! that totally sealed the deal for me. I was asked what i would do if i was working the er and there was a big accident. due to high volume and lack of personel the doc told me to only send him those that were going to live-- weed out those that would die (triage). What would i say to someone who asked why they were not being sent up to the doc when the reason was that i knew that they were not going to make it???
if you want to know my response just ask....also i got the three people to dinner and what would i make. This was one of the only interviews where they actually had a copy of my secondary and asked things right off it--- what type of instruments do you play??? what good books have you read lately?? How do you know this doctor-- he works as a preceptor for azcom and the student interviewing me was doing a rotation with him at the time!!!! talk about sweet!!!!! I totally felt at ease and really confident during the whole thing! I would take a copy of your secondary with you to read over, smile, and just live this up for all it's worth! Best of luck to you and let us know what happens!

Everybody was really laid back at AZCOM. After my interview there I cancelled 3 interviews!
It was a panel, two profs. and one student. I was never asked any ethical questions, everything came from my application. Some of the other interviewees were asked the what would you do if you weren't able to be a doctor question and the three people invited to dinner and why question.
The financial aid presentation was first class!
Contrary to some other posters, i have found that the administrative staff are really on the ball.
I know everyone says to be yourself and be relaxed, but it is true. I actally enjoyed my interview.
Good Luck.

hey guys, i just called for an interview at AZCOM too! I never expected one this late! Where should I fly into? What did you like best/least about AZCOM?

Alright! Are you heading out there soon?
I'll be flying into Phoenix (Sky Harbor Airport) and driving to Glendale. I'm no expert, having never lived there, but I think PHX is the only option. I'm sure others can give you more info than I can. 🙂 Luck to you!

To everyone who posted here to help out, I promise to spill the beans when I come back as to how the interview went, and if I got sunburned. 😎

Just got back from AZ. As promised, I thought I would give y'all the scoop on how the interview went.

I LOVED AZCOM, and my experience there was enough to shift AZCOM up to first choice despite the rather large deposits I've made at another school.

However, I didn't feel good at all about my interview. I was barraged with questions, and althought I answered every one of them, my tongue was tied different times. I'm sad because I know I could have represented myself better.

S'pose all I can do now is wait. Thanks to all of you for the help.
