can you explain this pplease? im always in a confusion when resp center is stimulated and when carotid body...i know resp center is stim when H+ increase in CSF (low pH) and carotid body when CO2 in blood too much...but when does body know when to stimulate which one?

central respi centre get stimulated by high H+/ co2 in csf that get diffused from the arterial blood..... but carotid body get stimulated by high arterial co2 and low o2.
when co2 gets up 1st central gets stimulated nd then peripheral while for low o2 ( at high altitudes) there being no central receptors for o2 directly carotid body get stimulated.
