Hi, i'm an MSI. Gonna take the Biochem Shelf end of this term. Can anyone tell me, in particular, what level of detail the shelf exams go into? What depth of info will need to be mastered, e.g. should I re-memorize all the steps of the TCA, know lipid metabolism in detail, etc.

How hard were they compared to your in-house tests? Did your school do a good job of preparing you for the biochem or any of the other ones?

Finally, I hear that Lippincott was the book to study. How should i study it?

Any and all help i welcome.

I took the shlef in feb. and it was not bad. We only had a half a day to study for it (the Anatomy shelf was on monday and the biochem shelf was tues.). I used the Kaplan book;however, alot of my friends used the BRS and Lipincott and did fine. There were not that many detailed questions but most of the exam was clinical cases so make sure you concentrate on the diseases.
