I just got a bummed out grade in a second semester pharmacology course at umdnj (C+, was .5 off of a B/3.0 and the prof was being an dingus about it...and that too because of a family hospitalization on the day of the one test i did poorly on...which the prof knew about 😡 ). This is a post bacc masters level course. I took the first half of the pharmaclogy couse last semester (kinetic/dynamic areas) and managed a B. Is this going to be the end of me and aspirations of dental school? really....really bummed at the moment....and I still have a dental biochem final to study for.......aaagh 🙁

Well, I'm not sure if Masters level courses make any more difference, but I got into dental school (two, actually) with the following grades:

C+ in Histology
C+ in O. Chem 1
C- in O.Chem 2
C+ in Cellular Biology
D+ in Biochemistry (the crown jewel)
C in Advanced Physiology Lab
C in English 101

If that's your only C, what I'm trying to tell you is: There's hope for you. 🙂

balance....were you at UMDNJ?

also...just to clarify, this is a masters level course....not an undergrad....

You should cut your hands off. There are no dentists with C's in pharmacology, of all things, practicing right now.....

I think he was just stating your name...maybe you should change it to avoid insults, Richard.

Richard (nice name by the way, it's royalty), I am the third Dick in my family, (Dick III) and I am very proud of my name. In our family, we have tradition and custom.

This might be the only way to get into dental school OP. Filing our AADSAS application as a medically impaired (i.e. handless) applicant will make your application 10 times stronger, which is strong enough to cover that single C you have in pharmacology.

Typo obviously had both hands and feet cut off to get in. 🙂

I guess I should have pointed out that I did pretty well on the DAT. If you get as many crappy grades as I do, make sure you do well on the DAT. I also applied extremely early.

I got into Maryland and UNLV. UNLV is my state school and I think that definitely helped. I also got an interview at UNC (which was disastrous - let's not talk about that 😛). However, I only applied to 6 schools. I like to think that if I had applied to more I would have gotten in, but who knows?

I suppose the moral of the story is that one C, or even two, definitely won't kill your chances. If you get as many as I did, it's possible to get in, but you've gotta have something else that makes you stand out, and be smart about which schools you apply to.
