Hi. I really miss home in southern california and I want to transfer. Is it possible? How may I do it? If I cannot make an official transfer, can I reapply to UCLA? What is the best way if possible?

Yao, I know that UCs do not allow medical students to transfer, but I'm not sure what the policies are for dental schools. If they do allow transfers, I don't see any reason why you wouldn't be able to if you are in good standing. Since you were able to matriculate into Harvard, I'm sure you'd be a good candidate for UCLA as well. The best thing for you to do would be to call UCLA. I know what you mean about missing SoCal, but Boston isn't that bad, is it? Any recommendations for good hole-in-the-wall Chinese restaurants and bakeries in Chinatown?

Well, if all the right cards are in place, romantic lightning strikes, and you wed a UCLA dental student; you MIGHT be able to apply for transfer consideration under an exceptional circumstance provision.

So you're saying it's impossible to transfer? Because I have no husband at ucla dental. What if I reapplied?

Yao,
Come on.... I am from SoCal too and damn.. i am gonna be stuck here in Connecticut for another freak'n 3 years. Boston is much better compare to CT. Just think that we will all be back home after we get our degrees.

oh yeah, one more thing... there's no damn good chinese food around here... piss me off

But Tiramisu, if you are at UCONN, you at least get to take advantage of resident tution rates after your first year.

Yaoming. You can even up the ante. You and your new UCLA dental school spouse can produce an offspring. Now that is bound to melt the heart of even the most stonefaced admissions committee member.

hey dog,
don't get me wrong, i love the school here, tuition and everything i am getting out of. However, you know, it's just the living condition and area that I am not used to. IT'S NOTHING LIKE HOME.. =(

Please... I am serious. Does anyone have any information on this?

sorry don't know, but u can transfer to columbia if you like :p

tiramisu!!
you broke my heart!! there is no good chinese food in farmington!!! I am serious, this is going to be a problem. I guess I will have to drive back to Northampton for a fix, I would suggest you do so too, its only an hour north of you--if you REALLY need some real food. "Tapei Tokyo", and "Teapot" are both YUMMY.
For thai, I recommend "thai kitchen"...
I really miss college. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="frown.gif" />

yao,
are u a dental student?? or medical?? i saw ur post on the pre-allo forum also... just wondering.

I think the best way to get an honest answer would be to contact the admissions office at UCLA yourself and explain your/your girlfriend's situation and see what they say. Also, she should be able to go talk to a counselor at harvard and get their opinion.

Contact UCLA and tell them your plea. See now I am so happy I didn't apply to Harvard.

The Big H= Big Hell.

Goodluck,

Let us know what happens.
