I already applied through TMDSAS and AMCAS this cycle and am now considering what letters of recommendation I should have for my TMDSAS. TMDSAS only allows 4 letters (3 required and 1 extra). I am considering how 4 out of the top 7 letters I have, but do med schools consider the person's position and the time the letter was written?
I have...
2 letters from physicians from my time as a medical scribe that is dated 2019.
1 letter from a group volunteer leader/manager from a 14 day medical missionary trip in Mexico, dated 2019.
3 previous science professors from college dated 2018, 2017, and 2016.
1 from a volunteer manager from a hospice organization, dated 2018.
The general consensus seems to be a mixture of 3 physician/science professor letters with one extracurricular activity, so I plan on doing that. But I am unsure whether a current letter from a physician is better than a professor letter that is written a year or more ago.
