So i am in a dilemma here, my GPA (GPA 3.15) is not so great to get in to medical school but it is high enough for SMP or international medical school (i am thinking australian).
So by now you probably know where i am going with this...should i do an SMP or go to medical school in australia (i have discounted Caribbean schools as last resort)?

SMP
Pros: American medical school, better chance at getting a choice residency, USMLE prep. and i guess a "masters".
Cons: Extra year and financing that extra year (so basically time and money)

Australian school
Pros: Save time, not so much on money since they seems to be in same range as american private institution, get international experience (i know its australia 😛)
Cons: well i would be considered an IMG, and the stats that come with being an IMG

So there it is...please feel free to comment; I am open to suggestions, advice, anything you got 😀! and no i haven't took my MCAT's just yet!

How old are you? if you are young go for SMP.. if you are old go for australian MBBS program.

Age is one deciding factor like Californian said and another important one would be where you ultimately would like to do your residency. If it's back within the US, I would highly recommend doing an SMP if it will realistically help you get into a medical school because to my knowledge, the only international school that sends many of their students back to the US is Sackler.

Thank you guys for your input, sorry for late reply...well I am 22 years old, and leaning more and more towards SMP...but i'll be applying next year so i have quiet some time to think about it!
Thanks again for your input!🙂
