HI everybody,
I have a question, I've just received my cost of attendance and the total financial aid I'm elegible for this incoming year. Needless to say I'm freakin' scared about the difference between one and the other (approximatelly a 30K difference 😱 ). I do not know what to do at this point...What did you guys do to pay for the difference? Did you talk to the financial aid people at the Dental School you we're attending (in my case USC)? It's funny, grades and dat scores are not an issue in my case, but the funds necessary to attend school; how in the world did you guys did it?? I have a crappy job, not the best credit in the world, and marrieddddd 😱 . Any advice anyone? i will really appreciate it.

Two words: private lenders.

pfbtt... lame... just take out loans and repay them after you start working...

me? I start D school in august, and i'm half a million in debt already cause I took out a mortgage to buy a condo near my school.

Please recommend some good private lenders. I see lots of people offering money, but which ones are best? Citibank seems to be the only private lender that I have seen that doesn't seem like a complete scam.

i remembered back in orientation
Bank of America came by and talked with us.
They said they are the best.

I would definitely check with other banks as well.
Besides the interest rate, ask for origination fee, process fee, or any other fees. will they sell your loan? what's the process to consolidate with them, etc.

each school has its one preferred lender. Contact the FA office and they'll send you a list of them.

OP: you should be able to meet the other $30k by taking out private loans. with decent credit you should have no problem. If however your credit rating isnt as high as the private lenders want, you can always have a cosigner (the rates may change then though...). I am sure they went over all this durinng your financial aid presentation during your inteview. best of luck.

Why didnt you get the max amount (38.5K) on Stafford loans? Or did you and USC just costs a butt load??

Edit,: At 75k a year, USC definately costs a butt load!

Did you get any aid from the school (grants or scholarships)
