So I have a dilemma...

After I graduated from college I started working full time in a med clinic. My grades weren't terrible but not great in undergrad because I was working alot. So to increase my knowledge I signed up for an online MHA program.

I am not good at online schooling at all. When I only worked I have A- grades but after I moved home, my grades fell and I keep getting C+ grades... I am just not interested in the material and am busy studying for MCAT & working... I really wanted to do well on the test but it made my grades even worse...

Overall my gpa is 3.46 overall and 3.37 science. Now if you factor in my MHA grades the overall goes down... will this be a huge black mark on my application... I haven't taken the MCAT yet but I have been scoring between 25-29 (which isnt that amazing either)... Starting to freak out a bit...

I am only applying to DO schools... Am I going to have a chance? help... any advice would be helpful!

Wrong forum. But yes, you still have a chance.

Depends on what your GPA dropped to, and what you get on the MCAT...

You're ok. As a current pre med sophmore I'm at around a 3.45 science gpa and around a 3.35 cumulative gpa. My brother knows a lot of kids who got into DO schools and I've contacted them. My schedule gets very easy after the next two terms (about my last 1.5 years is purely electives). By graduation, I hope to be at a >3.5 sgpa/cgpa. Might apply to MDs but my AAMC science gpa will be low due to some Cs in calculus courses. My science gpa had an upward trend while my cumulative gpa has jumped up quite a bit from freshman year. I think with a ~3.5/~3.4/29-30 MCAT score will give you a great change at DO schools.

I know of a student who got into LECOM about 4 years with ~3.6/~3.5/24 MCAT. Accepted student was asian american. Recently know someone who got into NYCOM with a ~2.9/~3.0/35 MCAT about two years ago (however he was a NY resident).

Fortunately for you the MHA is not a science degree and so, while the performance is low and that isn't good, it won't affect you as significantly if you had messed up in science; that is unless you got below a 3.0 which will raise some massive red flags. Just do well on your MCAT and apply broadly. Have a good reason why your MHA gpa was low.

Thanks for the advice everyone! I have been freaking out all day. Just have to keep studying, and hope for the best...

The most important thing for you, aside from finishing strong in the classroom, is to do very well on the MCAT. Keep working away at it, take all the practice tests and work on your timing, and don't take the test until you are ready to nail it.

GL!
