Recently I got a job offer as Pharmacy Technician and had my drug test on the 12th. Today I called they said it's not clear. Now I remember I had dental work on Wednesday. They injected something to make me numb. I couldn't remember what exactly they gave me.
The HR asked me to call in the morning to have it fixed. The dentist office is closed now.
Will I be in great trouble? What if I couldn't get this fixed? Will it affect my Pharmacy School drug test in the future? OMG!!!!
I'm panic now.
🙁

If the abnormal result is related to a one time dental procedure, any future drug screen results shouldn't be affected. You will have to find out what the abnormality was and then submit documentation from your dentist or other medical professional. I wouldn't panic until you know exactly what was abnormal about the results.

Don't worry. Explain the situation. It's documented in your dental charts. You will be fine.

As an aside, a friend of mine failed a pre-employment drug test three times. He claimed it was due to excessive water consumption (though I have my doubts). HR let him take it until he passed. Obviously, he wasn't working in a field where peoples' lives were at stake...

Thanks a lot for quick reply. I'm worried if it will stay in my record forever. 😕
Today when I talked with the HR lady, she wasn't nice to me at all. 😡
I have to wait till tomorrow morning.
I had pre-employment drug test three times before. Never thought I could fail. This time I was having cold but I wasn't taking any prescription medications. The only things I took ware cough drops and EmergenC. I didn't know the dental work will also give the false positive. It has been more than 48 hours sice I was given the shot. Is that possible it still stay in my system after two days?

Thanks.
On that day I went to bathroom before I went to the clinic. So I actrually barely had enough pee after I drunk a cup of water and sat there for 20minutes. I guess the regular pre-employement drug test wasn't as strict as pharmacy field.

You need to find out why you failed and then attempt to find out why whatever it was showed up. A cup of water didn't make you fail, unless you're not telling us something I would assume you got something at the dentist's office you didn't know about.....a plain ole injection of a local anesthetic won't make you fail one either (that I know of).

I'm not doing any drugs for sure. 🙁

I will find out tomorrow. I was never put into this kind of situation before and don't know the cause of that so I'm worried.
Thank you very muhc all4mydaughter. 🙂

If you barely had enough pee that might have been the problem. They just may not have been able to run the test properly. The main thing is don't panic and don't act guilty!

There are some prescription drugs that give false positives on drug tests... Levaquin can give false positive on opioids is one example

I called HR this morning. They said it's system error. They are fixing it. Per my dentist, the numb medicine should not affect the drug test.
I was shocked and upset yesterday. Now I feel relaxed. Thanks all!🙂🙂
